Alleviation of pressure at Marikana toll plaza on the N4 on match days

As per agreement of the North West Department of Public Safety, Rustenburg host city and Bakwena N1 to N4 toll, six lanes will be operational to process peak traffic before and after matches to reduce traffic congestion on the N4 and visible patrols on the road will be intensified, more especially after the games.

Experience has shown that though the throughput at Marikana toll plaza remains satisfactory, the toll plaza is under pressure when the traffic peaks during match days.

To alleviate the pressure, a call is made to road users to assist even faster processing of traffic by:

* Having cash at hand
* Having the right amount of cash at hand. The amount for Marikana is R14 for a light vehicle. This give you more options for faster processing during these abnormal high traffic volumes.
* There are runners with "cash only" boards in the lanes. They assist in faster processing of transactions. Please make use of them.
* Leaving earlier for the match. Your travelling time will reduce and you will have more time to spend at the venue and surroundings getting into the spirit of the event.

Peak traffic volumes are experienced at Marikana approximately four hours before the match. Try to be at Marikana more than four hours before the match starts.

* Please take note that there are no toilet facilities available at any toll plaza and use the toilets at the Park and Rides before you leave or else rely on the garages along the road.
* Be patient and drive safely to and from the game.
