All funded key vacant posts to be filled

Lack of capacity within the department could be a thing of the past following a directive by MEC Mahlakeng Mahlakeng that funded vacant positions considered key, be advertised and filled as a matter of urgency.

The prolonged delay, in filling existing vacancies especially in the district offices, has been cited as one of the reasons for lack of speedy service delivery during the second MEC’s crusade to interact with staff across all levels outside head office in Mafikeng.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Mahlakeng accompanied by some of his senior managers were in Bojanala, Rustenburg following hard on the heel of a similar visit last week to Dr Kenneth Kaunda region in Potchefstroom.

In an effort to ensure that challenges and suggestions affecting service delivery took centre stage, employees engaged Mahlakeng on an assortment of issues which included: human resources, transfer procedures, retention of skills, performance management, promotion opportunities, delays in the processing of pension payouts for those about to retire and the pathetic living conditions at road camps.

He also instructed the roads component to ensure that the access roads from and from a road in the Moretele district (Z617 road) in the Moretele area be contracted as he had made that commitment following his meeting with a delegation from that area recently. The same urgency was also requested in dealing with the situations in the road camps.

MEC Mahlakeng will further engage employees of the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati next week Thursday and wide-up the ‘His Road Show’ in Ngaka Modiri Molema district on September 03.
