The Supply Chain Management Director who was in March this year suspended by the department following allegations of corruption, has been dismissed. The sacking of Ms Jessica Rakoma follows an internal disciplinary procedure instituted by the department, which found her guilty of corruption.
Confirming the dismissal of Ms Rakoma, the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Mr Boitumelo Tshwene said in taking this decision, factors taken into consideration included amongst others, the nature of the employee’s duties and her seniority, the seriousness of the transgression as well as the employer’s obligation to attain and maintain a corruption free organisation.
“We welcome the sanction primarily because we expect every official to look after the interest of government and to comply with all regulations aimed at promoting good and clean governance, and most importantly, we expect Senior Managers to be the pillars of support and to lead by example”, remarked MEC Tshwene.
