The prevailing rain experienced over the past few days has resulted in deterioration of road conditions on the R503 Mafikeng to Lichtenburg road and the road becoming hazardous to drive on, with the untended roadworks, high traffic volume and newly formed potholes filled with water that render them invisible.
Though the North West Department of Public Safety Traffic has deployed additional traffic officers to patrol the road in order to curb moving violation, motorists are advised to drive at low speeds, keep a two seconds following distance and to keep their headlamps switched on at all times.
Motorists are requested to exercise extra care to arrive alive.
