The National Council of Provinces' Ad Hoc Committee on the Protection of State Information Bill wishes to extend its appreciation to all organisations that made oral submissions during the public hearings in Parliament this week.
The extensive public consultation process undertaken by the ad hoc Committee both in the nine provinces and in Parliament this week is a testament to the seriousness with which it takes in dealing with this piece of proposed legislation.
The committee commits that all views and submissions expressed during the public hearings will be considered by the multi-party ad hoc committee and they will greatly assist in narrowing the committee's focus on the bill.
The committee would also like to extend its gratitude to members of the public, civil society organisations, academic institutions and religious groups who showed interest in the work of the committee and their response to the committee's calls for submissions. The committee also thanks members of the media for the interest in the bill and support to the committee.
When the committee begins its deliberations on the bill all inputs given during this process would be central to those discussions.
