Acting Premier Paul Sebegoe on assessment of collapsed mud houses

Assessment of 46 collapsed mud houses concluded - Acting Premier Sebegoe

A technical assessment has been concluded on the 46 mud houses that collapsed last week in Bodibe village near Itsoseng, North West Acting Premier Paul Sebegoe confirmed on Tuesday.

“The affected families some of whom are temporarily accommodated at the St Judas Church received R1 200 Social Relief of Distress Grants from South African Social Security Agency which will be available to them until those displaced by disaster are resettled into habitable structures,” said Acting Premier Sebegoe.

“The Department of Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison is considering emergency housing for those displaced after the heavy rains damaged their mud houses,” Sebegoe highlighted.

The prompt response of Mayor of Ditsobotla Local Municipality, Councillor Lesego Holele ensured that all the families were provided with food parcels while the District Disaster Management Centre provided blankets and 10 families who were not keen to relocate with tents.
