Accident free event during the first AFCON games in North West

The North West Traffic Authorities have expressed their gratefulness at the motorist and pedestrians behaviour who attended the last night’s Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) games at the Royal Bafokeng stadium in Rustenburg. Authorities said that they have recorded an incident free event and gave credit to soccer lovers and locals for behaving well during the Group D games of the tournament.

The North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison MEC Nono Maloyi said the increased traffic visibility in and around the Rustenburg area has benefited the province. “We have tightened law enforcement in all the main roads leading to the stadium.

Most of our people lose their lives during this kind of busy period were certain drivers and soccer fanatics became too excited and turn to ignore the road rules and end up driving reckless on our road. We are however thankful that the last night event was an immense success,” said Maloyi.

Maloyi further called on other spectators to behave accordingly during the remaining AFCON games in Rustenburg, saying the festivities should only be pleasant memories as they will be going back home.
