A 27 year old Muhammad Fayaaz Kazi died at the Potchefstroom Hospital yesterday 7 August 2012 at about 11h30. It is alleged that the 27 year old was with his uncle Anser Mahmood driving to Ventersdorp when they stopped to buy food at Magaliesberg.
After purchasing food from a fast food outlet an argument allegedly broke out between Kazi and two unknown Afrikaner males. It further alleged that the two suspects were mocking Kazi about his long beard and that allegedly led to intervention by Kazi’s uncle who tried to stop the fight. According to report the police had, the two suspects hit the uncle.
It is alleged that the suspects fled the scene after attacking the two males. Police arrived at the scene and Kazi’s uncle did not want to open a case and they then left to Ventersdorp. Upon arriving on Ventersdorp Kazi became weak and was transported to the Ventersdorp Hospital where he was treated and transferred to Potchefstroom Hospital after his condition became worse. He died later at the Potchefstroom Hospital.
A case of murder was registered at Potchefstroom Police Station. It is expected the case will be transferred to Magaliesberg Police Station. No one has been arrested. Investigation continues.
