The Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, congratulates winners of the 2012 Women in Water Awards. The awards ceremony took place at Makwane village, on 10 August 2012, in Qwaqwa, Free State province.
The Women in Water Awards (WWA) programme is an annual ceremony of the Department of Water Affairs championed by Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi. WWA seeks to recognise, congratulate and honour the good work done by women and the vital role they play in the water sector, encourages perseverance in difficult conditions without resources and for communities to learn good practices of water management and change their attitudes for the better.
The awards ceremony is a culmination of the adjudication process of all nominated projects. A total of 249 applications were received this year.
