National Commissioner of Correctional Services Mr Tom Moyane will host the delegation from Zimbabwe from 12 – 13th of December 2011. The purpose of the study visit is to observe and learn best practice on prison farming and skills development programmes which may be offered to inmates in terms of rehabilitation.
The delegation will visit Zonderwater and Baviaanspoort Correctional facilities, East of Pretoria. They will tour the workshops, agricultural fields, Presidential poverty alleviation project and interacting with Correctional Services officials and inmates.
The two facilities are known for high production in cattle breeding, dairy products, manufacturing of cutlery and woodwork. The delegation will be accompanied by the Executive Management Team of the Department of Correctional Services.
