Women become first home owners in Adelaide

Women in Adelaide will become first time owners in Adelaide,  new area township tomorrow when MEC for Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison Helen Sauls August gives them keys to their new homes tomorrow at 11h00am.

The women are unemployed and some working in nearby farms for a living. Their monthly income wouldn’t afford to get them decent homes, hence the department has provided decent new homes through the housing subsidy programme that caters mostly for unemployed people. The women previously  resided in farms and in backyard dwellings who were always ill treated by their landlords.

The handover is done as part of celebrating women’s month in the province and aimed at restoring the dignity of women in the communities particularly the disadvantaged women in small towns and rural areas.

The handover will be held as follows:

Venue: New Area, Bezville, Township Adelaide
Time: 11h00am
