Western Cape MEC for Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle to join 'Child Safety in a Vehicle' campaign to collect used car seats

Transport and Public Works MEC Robin Carlisle, will be joining the Drive More Safely team, led by Ms Alida Jones, in their bid to collect used car seats to be distributed to parents who cannot afford them.

The campaign allows parents with used car seats to come and donate them to the non-profit organisation that then refurbishes them, and makes them available to those parents who cannot afford. Research has shown that the children of lower income families are five times more likely to be killed in a car crash than those of higher income families. To date Drive More Safely has given out more than 600 seats since our launch in February 2012.

The campaign is running until Thursday at participating schools. MEC Carlisle will be at SACS Junior school tomorrow morning lending his support to this great initiative.

All media are invited to attend. There will be opportunity for photographs and interviews.
