The MEC for Human Settlements in the Western Cape, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will deliver the keynote address and hand over 3 houses at the De Doorns Project in Breede Valley on 11 Oct 2012.
The first 400 houses of the project have been completed, and 200 have been occupied. The handover will signal the beginning of the occupation of the second batch of 200 houses. All the houses are for beneficiaries earning less than R3 500 pm.
The project also plans to deliver 1 482 serviced sites, of which 1 227 have been completed, the bulk of which are occupied. This is in line with the Departments incremental housing approach strategy, which aims to deliver more service sites first, and then houses later.
The project has a budget of R73.45 million.
