WCED delivers science kits to our province’s poorest schools

On Tuesday, Minister Grant will be visiting Bloekombos Primary School to see the delivery of a Natural Science kit at the school. Bloekombos Primary is one of 217 Quintile 1 schools that will receive the science kit.

Each school will receive a steel cabinet on a mobile trolley which contains a variety of items such as glass beakers, gas burners, various chemicals, tubes, evaporating dishes, funnels, boiling flasks, to name just a few! Each kit costs over R13 000.

The primary purpose of the kit is to support and improve the teaching and learning of science in our poorer schools in the intermediate phase.

The Western Cape Government is determined to increase the number of learners taking subjects like mathematics and physical science, and these kits will support our drive in increasing learner interest in these subjects by exposing more learners to the practical application of Science at an early age.

The Minister will be unpacking some of the contents and will take part in an experiment or two!
