Eastern Cape Legislature delegation attends a National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislative Summit in Minneapolis, USA

Four members of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature (ECPL) are in the United States of America attending a National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) summit. The week long summit is being held in Minneapolis from today, 18 to 22 August 2014 and is being attended by thousands of legislative and government officials, business representatives and union members.

The NCSL is a bipartisan non-government organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths, and territories. This summit is a huge gathering of legislators from both sides of the aisle that provides research, technical assistance, and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of state governments before Congress and federal agencies.

The delegation from the ECPL is comprised of the Deputy Speaker Bulelwa Tunyiswa, Chief Whip Mzoleli Mrara, MPL Bobby Stevenson and Mr Sizwe Mzamo. There are more than 100 learning sessions on topics such as health reform, budgets and taxes, jobs and the economy along with many other discussions which will be of benefit to the delegation.

The NCSL summit was established in 1975 as a platform for the exchange of ideas on state legislatures and to provide policymakers with a forum to research and discuss vital state or provincial issues.
