Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa visits Lesotho, 10 to 11 Dec

Deputy President and SADC Facilitator Cyril Ramaphosa will pay his tenth visit to Maseru from tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, 10 to 11 December 2014 as part of efforts to create a climate conducive for the holding of the 2015 February elections in the country.

During his visit, Deputy President is expected to pay a courtesy call on His Majesty King Letsie III, hold consultations with various political, religious, College of Chiefs, Non-Governmental sector including the IEC to consolidate efforts towards the holding of free, fair and democratic elections as provided for in the Maseru Facilitation Declaration.

The decision to hold elections in February 2015 arises from the provisions of the Maseru Facilitation Declaration signed by all Lesotho's political parties and is in line with agreements reached by the Summit of SADC Troika of Heads of State and Government plus DRC and Tanzania which met in Windhoek, Victoria Falls and Pretoria early this year.

Deputy President Ramaphosa is expected to return to South Africa on Thursday, 11 December 2014.
