Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla will lead South African delegates of health scientists, HIV activists and policy makers under the banner of South African National AIDS Council to the 25th International AIDS Conference scheduled to take place from 22 to 26 July 2024 Friday in Munich, Germany.
The International AIDS Conference is the largest conference on HIV and AIDS, it sits uniquely at the intersection of science, advocacy and human rights, bringing together scientists, policy makers, healthcare professionals, people living with HIV, funders and communities who will share knowledge, best practices and lessons learnt from HIV response over the past four decades.
The South African delegation will include amongst others; the Patron of Global Alliance to end AIDS in children by 2030, Mrs Humile Mashatile, provincial Health MECs, SANAC leadership, representatives of civil society organisations, as well as senior government officials.
AIDS 2024 conference in Munich, provides a myriad of opportunities for South Africa, to share lessons learned from the discovery medicine trials for HIV vaccines, latest results from HIV Prevalence, Incidence and Behaviour Survey, amongst others.
