Research in South Africa has shown that the early years are critical for development. From birth to seven years is a period of rapid physical, mental , emotional, social and moral growth and development. The early years of a child’s life are a time when they acquire concepts, skills and attitudes that lay the foundation for lifelong learning. These include the acquisition of language, perceptual motor skills required for learning to read and write, basic numeracy concepts and skills, problem solving skills, a love of learning and the establishment and maintenance of relationships based on this is imperative that ECD Services provide education and care to children in the temporary absence of their parents or adult caregivers.

The visit by MEC Botes is to engage with both the parents of the children at the ECD as well as with the educators of Huppeland to encourage them to send their children to the ECD and not let them stay at home. It is also to give effect to our commitment to protecting children, and to raise awareness with the view to educate communities about the benefits of early education for our children.

Your attendance at the visit to Huppeland ECD will be highly valued and appreciated.
