Viljoenskroon celebrates R37 million new school grand opening

The community of Rammulotsi in Viljoenskroon will on Friday, April 16 2010 celebrate the grand opening of the R39 million new Kgabareng Secondary School.

This is part of the Free State Department of Education ‘design and build programme’ which seeks to eliminate the platoon schooling system in the province.

The R585 million ‘design and build programme’, which includes the construction of the 11 brand new schools and extensive upgrading of four existing schools is the biggest in the country.

Kgabareng Secondary School is the second school after Mehopung Secondary School in Ficksburg to be completed and officially opened. The current status of the school is 100 percent complete.

The present beneficiaries are 580 learners and 19 educators including the principal. It is hoped that the enrolment will increase in the next academic year.

The school’s facilities include 28 classrooms, administration block, media centre and school hall, storeroom facilities for all classrooms as well as requisite earthworks and steel pallasade fence.

Free State Education MEC Tate Makgoe will officially open the school at the celebration on Friday afternoon. More than 1500 people including the Mayor of Moqhaka Local Municipality and many people associated with the school and local community will attend the official opening.
