Unemployment Insurance Fund conducts 4th UIF Seminar, 24 Oct

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) will be hosting the 4th Annual UIF Seminar in Pretoria on the 24th October 2014. The purpose of the seminar is primarily to raise awareness about employer’s obligations as outlined in the Unemployment Insurance Act No. 63 of 2001.

Secondly, the Seminar seeks to encourage employers to comply with the UI Act by emphasizing the need for them to register and declare contributions to the Fund every month.

The Seminar will also encourage employers to utilise the new and already active U-Filling system that was introduced to make life easier for employers when registering and declaring their employees.

The system gives employers an option to declare information online, and it has recently been enhanced to allow employees to make online applications in the comfort of their homes.

Speakers from the UIF, Compensation Fund and the Department of Labour will be presenting on the following topics, among others:

  • UIF Leveraging on Technology to Improve on Service Delivery (U-Filing

System)

  •  The Role UIF plays in the economy to assist social security
  •  Compensation for Occupational injuries and Diseases ACT (COIDA)
  •  Labour Activations (Training Lay off Scheme)
  •  UI legislation and how it affects employers

The seminar will take place as follows:

Date: 24 October 2014
Time: 09:00 – 13:00
Venue: CSIR International Convention Centre (Pretoria East)

The media is invited.
