Understanding nuclear energy public participation

The Department of Energy (DoE) cordially invites members of the media to attend the public participation event on understanding nuclear energy. Nuclear energy provides a basis for an interesting and exciting field for nuclear engineers, scientist, technicians, artisans and many other related professions.

Purpose of the event:

  • To educate the Atteridgeville community and learners on nuclear energy, awareness and safety
  • To create a platform where the public interact with DoE senior officials and energy stakeholders  on the nuclear energy, safety and awareness
  • To also encourage active participation on nuclear issues by the Atteridgeville community including schools.

The event is organised as follows:

Venue: Saulsville Arena

Speakers on the day will include inter alia: the Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters; representatives from the Premier's office (Gauteng); representatives from the basic education ministry,  the office of Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, Deputy Director-General for Electricity, Nuclear and Clean Energy, Mr Ompi Aphane;  and other energy stakeholder representatives.
