Transport sector HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) event to be addressed by Mr Jeremy Cronin, MP, Deputy Minister of Transport, Harrismith

Mr Jeremy Cronin, MP, Deputy Minister of Transport will address the Transport Sector HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) event, on Monday, 13 December 2010. Further details are as follows:

Venue: Harrismith Truck Stop-along the N3 Highway, Free State province
Time: 17h30 for18h00

The aim of this event is to support government's initiative of encouraging 15 million South Africans to get tested for HIV by 2011. The event is targeting truckers, taxi drivers and motorists passing through Harrismith as well as other members of the local community in the area. The event is hosted by Department of Transport together with various transport sector stakeholders including but not limited to Road Accident Fund, Trucking Wellness, South African National AIDS Council and others.

Confirming his attendance to the event the Deputy Minister of Transport Mr Cronin said, "It is important for all motorists and public at large not to gamble with their lives. People must remain conscious and cautious both in the roads and in their rooms."
