Transport Department announces Gauteng freeway tolling steering committee

The Department of Transport will hold a press briefing to inform and update media on developments regarding the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) tolling system.

Following a meeting between the Minister of Transport Sbu Ndebele and Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane on 22 February 2011 regarding the GFIP tolling system, both principals agreed to put the tolling system on hold to allow for an inclusive consultation process with the objective of settling broader questions relating to delivery and funding of transport infrastructure in South Africa.

During the briefing members of the steering committee will be announced, their duties and responsibilities and including the timelines they will be working on.
