Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms Tokozile Xasa, will host the Women in Tourism Conversations on 8 March 2012 in honour of International Women’s Day.
Taking place in Mangaung, the event will attract women entrepreneurs, women tourism service providers, senior public and private sector managers, female students, academics and non government organisations.
The event is also in line with the National Department of Tourism’s commitment of advancing transformation in the tourism sector and the empowerment of women and the youth in tourism. The intention is to create a platform for the engagement of women in tourism as part of advancing the role of women in the sector.
Deliberating on the theme, “Connecting girls – Inspiring futures”, discussions will include issues around the economic participation of women in tourism, the recognition of women in the sector and equal work for equal pay.
