Thousands of educators receive literacy and numeracy training during winter training workshop

Tomorrow, Penny Vinjevold, Head of Education in the Western Cape, will visit a maths training session for foundation phase teachers at the College of Cape Town’s Crawford Campus tomorrow, Tuesday, 12 July at 11h30.

Around 3 300 teachers are attending workshops organised by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) to improve their literacy and numeracy teaching skills during the holiday period.

At these workshops, teachers are being briefed on where specific problems lie, and what can be done to improve understanding in those specific areas. They are also being exposed to different styles of teaching, and are comparing and showcasing best practice.

Venue: College of Cape Town’s Crawford Campus - foyer of the main hall at the College of Cape Town’s Crawford Campus, Kromboom Road, Crawford.

Visitors should turn right immediately on entering the main gate and should follow the road around the campus to parking outside the main hall. Security will point the way if necessary.
