Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Mninwa Mahlangu and Speaker of Northern Cape Legislature, Mr Jacobus Frederick van Wyk will address media on the National Council of Provinces (NCOP)’s Taking Parliament to the People programme scheduled to take place in De Aar on 5 to 8 November 2012.
‘Taking Parliament to the People’ is an oversight and public participation programme of the NCOP. Through the programme the NCOP exercises its constitutional obligation to oversee government programmes and policies. The programme also gives an opportunity to the ordinary citizens to engage face-to-face with their elected public representatives on issues affecting them.
In the spirit of cooperative governance the programme brings together all three spheres of government under one roof, to account to the electorate for their service delivery promises.
