Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, national Minister of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson and Gauteng MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Nandi Mayathula-Khoza will host a Farmer, Workers and Dwellers Summit on Friday, 23 April 2010.
The summit is part of a national initiative to promote harmonious relations among farmers, workers and communities. It is hoped the summit will assist the key stakeholders within the farming sector to foster cordial working relations, prevent racial tensions and improve working and living conditions on farms.
Representatives from Gauteng provincial government departments, municipalities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community based organisations, farmers unions and trade unions are also expected to attend the summit.
