Spotlight falls on the Mining Charter

Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources will, starting from tomorrow, conduct public hearings in Gauteng and North West provinces on the results of the review of the old Mining Charter and proposals on the new Mining Charter.

Stakeholders that are to attend the two-day public hearings include mining companies, mine workers and community members.

The hearings are in line with one of Parliament’s core functions, that of facilitating public involvement in its processes.
