Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) supports sports and events tourism exchange conference

Sport tourism is a growing sector in South Africa, and Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) is supporting an important conference on the topic, to be held from 27 to 28 July in Cape Town.

The department has allocated R1 million to the Sports and Events Tourism Exchange (SETE) conference and exhibition, an event that will provide exhibitors and visitors with a unique platform to network and interact with both local and international industry leaders.

The event is being held in collaboration with South African Tourism.

SRSAs funding is also being used to ensure that sport federations are able to take up exhibition space in order to promote their activities to international delegates to the conference and exhibition. In addition SRSA will be hosting its own exhibition stand as well.

Several key personnel from SRSA will be speaking at the conference and taking part in panel discussions. Topics that appear on the conference program include several sessions on the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and the issue of sustainability in sport tourism.

Minister of Sport and Recreation Mr Fikile Mbablula as well as World Cup CEO Danny Jordaan will deliver keynote addresses. Several international speakers will also be taking part in the proceedings.
