As was the case for the past two years, Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) will again be part of the sport heroes walk against HIV and AIDS, which this year takes, place in Limpopo.
The purpose of the walk is to bring a message of wellbeing against the background of HIV and AIDS to communities across South Africa; with a focus of the role sport can play in preventing HIV and AIDS.
The heroes are a group of prominent sportspeople who, for seventeen days, will be running and walking across Limpopo, visiting AIDS centres and holding sport clinics for town and village communities.
A team from SRSA will be joining the walkers, distributing sport equipment along the way, and helping to facilitate the sport clinics.
The walk will take the participants from Diepsloot near Johannesburg through places like Bela Bela, Marken, Tzaneen and Musina before ending on World AIDS Day, 1 December, in Thohoyandou.
