Sport and Recreation Minister Reverend Stofile, meets with the Angolan National Basketball Coach, who is in South Africa to help develop Basketball

Following President Zuma’s state visit to Angola in August 2009, South Africa’s Minister of Sport and Recreation, Reverend Dr Makhenkesi Stofile signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Angolan Ministry of Sport. The programmes in the MoU are among others geared towards the development of Basketball at grassroots and high performance level.

Angola, as the current African Basketball champions, have agreed to release their under 19 national coach Mr Carlos Antonio Dinis, to assist Basketball South Africa, with the development of the sport in the country.

Media is invited to attend the meeting between Minister Stofile, the Angolan coach and all Basketball South Africa’s stakeholders tomorrow, 11 September 2010, from 14h00 to 17h00 at the City Lodge OR Tambo Airport. Also expected to attend, is the Ambassador of Angola to South Africa, HE Mr M Neto.
