The final of the Soweto Rugby Tournament will be a Gauteng v/s Free-State affair after Soweto Rugby Club and Eye of the Tiger won their semi-final matches today 29 April 2012 at the Braamfischer Multipurpose Complex.
The two teams came through some tough battles since the first round matches on Saturday April 28. Eye of the Tiger Rugby Academy booked their place in the final by beating stubborn Gauteng Invitation XV 25-24. In the other semi-final, hard running Soweto Rugby Club beat Tshwane based Dipoho 32-9 to set up a mouth-watering final for the right to be crowned Cup champions of the 2012 Soweto Rugby Tournament.
Earlier in the day the Plate Semi-finals were played featuring teams that lost in the first round matches played yesterday. Alexandra Rugby Club beat Matlosana Rugby Club by 22 -19 to set up the final against Eldoronians who beat Harmony 35-19.
The 3-day tournament which started on Saturday will see the crowning of the champions tomorrow, Monday 30 April 2012 in what is expected to attract hundreds of residents in and around Braamfischer.
