The cream of South Africa's school sport talent will be in action at the National School Winter Games Championships that takes place in Durban from 12 to 15 July 2009.
Not only will the best of the best in each province be competing against each other in four ball sports, but the winners will have the chance to take part in the prestigious COSSASA Ball Games, the primary Southern African competition for these sports on schools level.
Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) will be working in collaboration with experts identified by SRSA's sport scientific directorate as well as officials from various sports federations to select high performing talented athletes, with a view to including them in the talent development programmes run by provincial academies and high performance centres. There they'll have the chance to hone their skills for further international participation.
The event forms part of SRSA's declared intention to provide South African youth with opportunities to participate in sport, and is an outcome of the partnership between SRSA, the Department of Education, and provincial stakeholders.
