The South African Post Office (SAPO) together with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to launch the 11th field postal unit stamp, in celebration of World Post Day

The Deputy Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni Abrahams will launch the 11th Field Postal Unit stamp in celebration of the World Post Day at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Centurion, Pretoria on 09 October 2012.

The South African government decided to support the United Nation's peace keeping initiatives in Central Africa, 11 Field Postal Units (11 FPU) were re-activated. The Field Post Office 3 (FPO 3) was deployed at the Air Force Base Waterkloof.

The department through the South African Post Office (SAPO) supports the work that the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is doing by facilitating the processes of ensuring that the communication channels between deployed soldiers abroad and their families are preserved.

FPO 3 renders a valuable service to the soldiers deployed in the Mission areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sudan and the Central African Republic (CAR) therefore on Tuesday, 09 October 2012 the department, South African Post Office together with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will launch the FPO stamp.
