The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Riah Phiyega, will lead a contingent of police officers in a nationwide "Operation Basadi" - a crime combating operation focusing on priority crimes, particularly crimes against women and children.
The main operation will be held in Pretoria, which will be run concurrently with others in all nine provinces. This initiative forms part of high-level activities and operations planned annually for the month of August in the SAPS.
