The Makana Municipality Council passed a resolution to bestow on His Excellency President Jacob Zuma the honour of Freedom of Grahamstown. The Freedom of Grahamstown Ceremony will be presented on 13 July 2011 at 10h30 at the Grahamstown City Hall, Eastern Cape province.
The South African National Defence will support the event in the form of a Freedom of the Town Parade, in honour of the commander-in chief as the main functionary for the ceremony.
The military proceedings will commence with a Guard of Honour by six South African Infantry Battalion, 21 round Gun Salute by G1 88mm Gun Troop, Salute Flight by two helicopters of the SA Air Force and the National Salute.
The military proceedings will then be concluded by a Final Salute and the National Anthem by the South African Army Band Kroonstad.
