South African National Defence Force (SANDF) participation during the opening of Parliament

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), as instructed by the Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency, President, Jacob Zuma, will form part of the ceremonial proceedings during the opening of Parliament on Thursday, 10 February 2011 at 19:00 in Cape Town.

The ceremonial proceedings will be executed as follows:

  • Street lining in honour of the President of the Republic of South Africa.
  • A Guard of Honour by the National Ceremonial Guard.
  • A 21 round Gun Salute by the Cape Field Artillery.
  • National Anthem by National Ceremonial Guard Band.
  • A Salute Flight by 4 Pilatus Astra aircraft of the SA Air Force.
