The Acting Chief of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), Lieutenant General Themba Matanzima, will address the media on the above-mentioned issue on Thursday, 27 August 2009, at 15:00, at Air Force Base Waterkloof.
The conference will be conducted on the backdrop of the South African Defence Union (SANDU) and their associates, who despite a court ruling declaring their protest action illegal, chose to disrespect the law by continuing the protest march. The Acting Chief SANDF will amongst others address the media on actions to be taken by the Department of Defence to deal with those involved elements, including ensuring that such actions will never be repeated.
