South African Government to sign funding agreement with European Commission and United Kingdom's Department for International Development

South Africa's Employment Creation Fund will receive a boost of approximately 1,2 billion rand (€100 million plus £18 million) from the European Commission and the Department for International Development (DFID), over a three year period.

This will be confirmed during the signing ceremony of the funding agreement between South Africa and European Union in Cape Town. The ceremony will take place as follows:

Government is of the view that the funding will contribute to the target of halving unemployment and poverty by 2014 as set out in the new Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF).
