South African Air Force to hold an air capability demonstration in Makhado

On Thursday, 9 September 2010, the South African Air Force will hold an air capability demonstration at air force base Makhado.

Aircraft of different categories will be on display showcasing various manoeuvres, tactics of battle and other practical operations.

Amongst others the list of participating aircraft includes: Hawks, Oryx helicopters, Casas, C-130, Gripens, Augusta A109, C-208 and PC 12.

Various simulated exercises which also include a South African army element comprise of scenarios ranging from mortar attacks, light artillery drops, air supplies, counter attacks by jet fighters, photo reconnaissance to fire fighting.

This serves as a splendid opportunity for the Air Force to demonstrate its strength and ability to secure the South African air space and the citizens of the country.

You are cordially invited to send a journalist and or a camera person or photographer to cover the event. Journalists who are assigned to cover the event should confirm their attendance not later than 8 September 2010 before 12h00.

They are furthermore requested to report at Air Force Base Swartkop at 06h15.

Kindly be advised that there is limited space on the aircraft and seats are allocated on a first come first serve basis.
