South Africa participates in the Pan African Cultural festival

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Lulu Xingwana will head a South African delegation to Algeria for the second Pan African Cultural festival. The first festival took place in 1969. The festival will commence on 4 July 2009.

During the festival, South Africa will showcase its rich and diverse cultural heritage through different art forms. According to Minister Xingwana, the festival represents a unique opportunity for South African artists to meet their counterparts and showcase their talents to the world.

In order to strengthen relations with the people of Democratic Republic of Algeria, Minister Xingwana will sign a cultural agreement and a programme of cooperation with her Algerian counterpart. Subsequently, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the national film and video foundation and its Algerian counterpart.
