South Africa hosts SADC Double Troika and Extraordinary Inter-State Politics and Diplomacy Ministerial Meetings

South Africa is hosting the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Double Troika and the Extraordinary Inter-State Politics and Diplomacy Ministerial Meetings on 11-12 February 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The SADC meetings take place within the context of contributing to regional efforts in addressing current politico-economic situations in the region.

Accordingly, South Africa continues to lead in the implementation of the SADC peace and security mechanisms in line with the Strategic Indicative Plan of the Organ (SIPO).

The SADC Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) Troika is attended by the following countries, South Africa as Chair, the Republic of Zambia, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Angola, Namibia and Mozambique.

The meetings are scheduled to discuss, among others, the following:

  • Political and cconomic situation in the region
  • Review of the outcomes of the African Union Summit and
  • Summit decision on the establishment of a committee of Heads of State and Government of the five African regions.

South Africa continues to play a leading role in the unity and cohesion of the region and the continent whilst also significantly contributing to peace, security, humanitarian assistance and development activities at regional and continental level in both operational and strategical levels.
