South Africa will host a bi-lateral meeting with a Vietnamese government delegation to discuss the ongoing scourge of rhino poaching and find ways to combat the illegal smuggling of rhino horn.
The bi-lateral meeting whichtakes place on Wednesday, 28 September 2011 in Johannesburg, will amongst other things discuss issues of wildlife protection and in particular issues pertaining to hunting and illegal killing of rhinoceros and the subsequent illegal trade in rhino horn.
A Vietnamese delegation led by their Vice Prime Minister visited South Africa recently and it was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on wildlife trafficking would be finalised.
A draft bi-lateral MoU between the two countries to collaborate among others on wildlife protection and law enforcement is expected to be agreed upon at the meeting.The final MoU between the two countries will be finalised once all the due processes have been followed.
