The Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Mr Richard Baloyi will host the 32nd AAPAM Roundtable Conference on behalf of the South African government from 15 to 19 November 2010 in Durban.
The 32nd Roundtable will focus on ‘Repositioning the African Public Services for the Realisation of National Visions’.
While acknowledging the role of other actors in Africa’s strategic visioning process, the 32nd Roundtable will focus attention on the unique responsibilities that the process places on national public administration systems.
The main of objective of the Roundtable will be to examine the implications of implementing national strategic visions simultaneously with global and regional initiatives such as the millennium development goals (MDGs), New Partnership for Afric's Development (NEPAD), and sub-regional economic communities’ protocols on free movement of persons, goods and capital, and offer realistic answers to the attendant questions of overlap, duplication, resource spread, loss of focus and haziness or distortion of vision.
The Roundtable will also provide an opportunity for shared experiences by non-African countries like India, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Brazil in national strategic visioning and strategic management.
Delegates at the Roundtable will include African Ministers for Public/Civil Service, Heads of Public Institutions, academics as well as analysts.
