South Africa to host the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Cooperatives Conference in Midrand

Members of the media are invited to the launch of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) chapter of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).

Venue: Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) Conference, Midrand

The purpose of the conference is to bring together cooperatives associations, cooperative colleges and government departments responsible for cooperative development from all the fifteen SADC countries to address institutional challenges for cooperatives confronting the SADC region.

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), together with the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) and South African National Apex Tertiary Corporative (SANACO) is jointly co-hosting the conference. The theme for the conference is "Strengthening and unlocking the Cooperative Model through Empowerment in the SADC region: Blowing the African Cooperative Trumpet."
