The MEC of Health in the Northern Cape, Mr Ms Sokatsha, invites all media to the official sod-turning of the new clinic in Norvalpoint, near Colesberg. The event will take place next to the current clinic in Masizakhe, Norvalpoint, which forms part of the Umsobomvu local municipality in the Pixley-Ka-Seme district of the Northern Cape province.
The building of the new clinic in Norvalspont is part of government's 10 point plan as capsulated under the revitalisation of health infrastructure and improving the quality of healthcare services. The construction costs for the clinic is estimated at R5,5 million and construction will commence during September 2009 and the completion is scheduled for June 2010.
Building new clinics, upgrading existing healthcare facilities, provision of personnel, equipment, medicine and transport, are all part and parcel of improving health service delivery in the province. In addition to building new clinics, government is working hard to improve the quality of care that is provided within all our clinics. This is in line with our vision as the Northern Cape Department of Health, namely; health service excellence for all.
The partners in this project are the Northern Cape Provincial Department of Health, the Umsobomvu Local Municipality and the Department of Co-Operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs.
Other dignitaries expected to accompany the MEC of Health are the Executive Mayor of the Pixley-Ka-Seme District Municipality, the Mayor of the Umsobomvu local municipality, municipal counsellors as well as senior officials from the provincial and district Department of Health.
