Social Development Minister Edna Molewa will tomorrow, 8 August 2009, officially open Phumula Old Age Home in Bronkhorspruit (Gauteng province). The centre will be used to cater for the needs of senior citizens in Bronkhorspruit and surrounding areas as well for other community development initiatives which will promote active involvement of older persons in development.
"The opening of Phumula Old Age Home underlines government's commitment to improve all aspects and the quality of life of older persons who have made invaluable contribution to our country. The true measure of a caring society is how best it values and protects its senior citizens," said the Minister.
The Minister will be joined by the local community leaders and dignitaries of diplomatic corps who have made generous contributions to the centre.
