Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini will meet and interact with non-profit organisations (NGOs)

Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will on 30 July 2012 interact with the Non-profit Organisations (NPOs) in KwaZulu-Natal province. The purpose of this dialogue is to assist on improving the role of the NPOs and also identify ways to improve the manner in which they operate.

To date the Minister together with the Deputy Minister hosted seven provincial dialogues in Limpopo, Free State, Northern Cape, Western Cape, Free State, North West and Northern Cape respectively. These dialogues will contribute towards social cohesion the delivery of quality services.

Minister Dlamini will during the dialogue interact with members of NPOs which will be followed by an inclusive national consultative summit in August. The summit will bring together all relevant stakeholders and other crucial role-players.

During the previous dialogues in other provinces, a variety of challenges within the NPO sector were identified. However, Minister Dlamini is confident that the NPO sector must focus on rendering quality services to the poor and the marginalised members of society. The Minister will be accompanied by MEC for Social Development in Kwazulu-Natal, Ms Wezile Thusi.
