The Department of Social Development and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will jointly host the 16th annual national poster awards competition. The purpose of the competition is to provide a creative forum for young people to explore the impact of population and developmental issues on their own and how best to can contribute in changing other people lives for the better.
The theme for this years' competition is "Plan your family. Plan your future".
Entries for the competition were received from participants in all nine provinces, and the overall winners were selected from each of the three age categories: 13 to 15; 16 to 19 and 20 years and older. The overall winners in each of the categories will be presented with prizes in a form of educational materials and other incentives. The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini will officiate at the prize-giving ceremony.
