The Eastern Cape MEC for Social Development and Special Programmes, Dr Pemmy Majodina will lead Social Development employees in donating blankets to residents of Sweetwaters Hall, King Williams Town on 25 July 2011, at 12h00.
The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) affiliated and non-affiliated employees of Social Development are riding on the wave of Mandela Day.
This special day was pronounced by the President of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma, in his 2009 State of the Nation Address. This initiative (Mandela Day) by the Nelson Mandela Foundation and related organisations gives individuals an opportunity to do something good to help others.
The beneficiaries of these blankets are destitute and they have been assessed by social workers.
